Our Fabrics

Manufacturing

Our manufacturer makes products on-demand, which means that they print, dye and weave the fabrics after it is ordered. This way traditional methods of mass production are avoided to increase efficient manufacturing, benefit the environment and reduce waste.

On demand manufacturing means each step of the production process is handled from preparation to finishing. Nothing is outsourced except the designing of the actual prints and even in this case, over 60% of the designs are designed locally. This means our manufacturer can do its own quality control from fabric to final product. Any issues that do arise can be corrected quickly. When a product is made, it is quality checked several times during production; after printing, during prep, after weaving and during packaging. Most flaws are caught at one of these checks. Ensuring quality at each step means a great finished product. Products that don't quite make it past quality control are remade and the flawed product is donated. In that manner every product has a home instead of being added to row upon row of other fabrics in a warehouse. Since there aren't any overstocked goods, there is no inventory to liquidate or destroy, so that almost every single item is shipped out to an end user. No overstock means very low waste in both physical materials but also time and energy. Every product that is created is literally made with someone in mind.

Dye

Chemical dye is replaced with 100% natural dyes: 100% environmentally friendly, without synthetic additives and completely biodegradable, without pesticides or other certified substances.

There are many dyes available in nature that make it possible to dye clothing. Unlike synthetic dyes in fact oil derivatives, vegetable dyes are reproducible and completely degradable. The color palette that vegetable dyes can be achieved is almost infinite. Most of the natural dyes are enhanced with vinegar to make the color solid. Products such as plants, charcoal, mud, flowers, tree saps, indigo etc can be used for dying.

Certifications

All fabrics are 100% organic cotton, and all labels are made from organic cotton, woven or knitted and printed with bio-ink.
Our fabrics are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Productklasse I GOTS-certified.

Our Production

Also our production process is in association with a partner based in the Netherlands, where every piece of fabric is stitched with skill and love. There is no use of plastic during production or packaging and the high quality fabrics delivered by our manufacturer are used efficiently with care. Furtermore, with face-to-face contact with our partners we are able to style beyond trends and to realize and offer a versatile capsule wardrobe.

Choosing local artisanal handicraft over fast-fashion and working with as much local suppliers as possible, we don't have to import or export the fabrics and end-products from another country, reducing carbon emissions and waste. Simultaneously, having a social impact by supporting local jobs.

Sourcing is local and all fabrics are originated from The Netherlands.

Our Packaging

Just like our manufacturing and production process, we make sure every component of our packaging consists of sustainable elements and is also produced in that manner:

  • Hangtags – 100% recyclable and home-compostable, made from FSC-certified, recycled card-stock.
  • Wrapping - Our wrapping is acid-free and made from FSC-certified, recycled paper and is fully home-compostable after use. Soy-based ink.
  • Stickers - Our stickers are 100% recyclable and compostable, and made with FSC-certified materials and soy-based inks. Acid Free Paper - made from cellulose fiber, meaning the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing / Lignin- and sulfur-free Pulp - meaning ink won't transfer from stickers and paper won't leave chemicals when decomposing.  Stickers and the release liner are both compostable and curbside recyclable.
  • Mailers - Our mailers are 100% certified compostable, plant-based, weatherproof and soy-based inks.
  • Shipping Labels - Made with FSC-certified paper and finished with non-toxic adhesive, 100% compostable and recyclable.

Compostable

Compostable packaging is typically made from a number of renewable plant-based materials and/or bio-polymers. When a product breaks down in home compost within 180 days and 90 days in commercial composting conditions, it gets FSC-certified. Cardboard and paper products are easily broken down in a compost, these products also tend to have chemical compounds removed from the product.

Recycling

Recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, it conserves natural resources and prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials. While most packaging is typically single use, and recycled after it accomplishes its primary goal, reusable packaging can be used multiple times for a variety of functions.
When an item of packaging is used for a second time after its initial use, that doubles the utility of the packaging, and prevents another single-use piece of packaging from being used.
